The day before Thanksgiving is always a school holiday that comes in handy for those who need to travel long distances to see family and friends for some delicious turkey or tofurkey, whichever fits your dietary preference. Our family does not have to travel very far so we made this a play day and headed out on a turkey hunt* to see if we could bag lunch for tomorrow.

*there are not any turkeys at the park but toddlers don't know better. Wink

Nope. Not a turkey. Let's keep moving.

It kind of looks like a turkey climbing a tree but upon further inspection it was just a strange growth on the bark. We came to a fork in the road and decided to head South. Maybe West. It was definitely a left. After crossing the dried up creek bed and finding no turkeys, we arrived back at the playground area where it was time to take a load off and rest.

Hmmm. That was going to be difficult to sit on without getting our bottoms all scraped up by sharp rusted metal. "I sit right here," she said as she made herself comfortable.

We didn't find and turkeys (or bears) but we did enjoy the nice Texas weather and the 87 degree Summer sunshine. Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the best thing about being a Dad. The wild turkey hunts. Your daughter made me smile seeing her ripping her socks off.

That looks like a lot of fun. It was cold (for Atlanta) and rainy here.

looks like a nice time. An 87 degree day before Thanksgiving would have been nice today. I had 4 kids cooped up inside the house as it was 37 and rainy.

Have a great Thanksgiving James!
