Today on the way home from kindergarten my son and I had this conversation...

Little Mr.: We voted for President today at school.

Me: You did? Cool!

Little Mr.: Yea, and Rock Obama won. I was right!

Me: Barack Obama?

Little Mr: Yep, I voted for Rock Obama.

Me: How did you know who to vote for?

Little Mr.: My brain told me.

Me: You have a good brain. Did you talk about the candidates? Barack Obama and John McCain?

Little Mr.: No

Me: Then how did you decide to vote for Barack Obama instead of John McCain?

Little Mr.: He wasn't on the list. It was Rock Obama and George Washington.

Me: Oh, that's funny. So you voted for Obama because George Washington is not alive anymore?

Little Mr.: They are both alive.

Me: Washington was the first President of the United States. He's not around anymore. That was over 200 years ago.

Little Mr: Oh.

Me: So John McCain wasn't a choice for you to vote for?

Little Mr.: Nope. I voted for Rock Obama and he won!

Me: So you talked about the Presidents then?

Little Mr.: Yep.

Me: Which ones?

Little Mr.: George Washington, Barack Obama...

Me: (laughing) Well, he probably will be President after the adults get to vote in a couple of weeks.

Little Mr.: He is President! He won!

Me: (laughing)

You heard it here first, people! Rock Obama wins!

I'm pretty sure that's not how it all really happened at school today. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if a liberal town like Austin left John McCain off of the kindergarten ballot!

Have you ever heard of Schmap Guides? I had not until I received an email from a Ms. Emma J. Williams, the Managing Editor, saying that my photo of the Fort Worth Water Gardens was on the short list to be chosen for publication in their October Guide. No money was to be made but a photo credit and a link to my picture on flickr would be included. Fine by me! In this day and age of Web 2.0, many publications (Quirkee included) are using content like photos from people on flickr and other sites willing to share their stuff as long as they get credit and a link to them. Here is a link to the Schmap Guide with my photo alongside others.

Daddyshack Scavenger Hunt

The Daddyshack Scavenger Hunt on flickr had it's 100th member join yesterday! If you don't know about the hunt yet here is some info:

Want to play? Everybody loves a scavenger hunt so invite your friends and let's get it on!

Each week starting on Sundays there will be multiple items that you can hunt for in your own town and post to the group pool. Right now we are shooting for 10 items per week. No worries if you can't get them all, just post what you do shoot. The weekly hunt will end on Saturdays at 12:00 midnight.

For those of you in the group doing a Photo-a-Day/Project 365 this will help you keep shooting and give some ideas along the way!

The list for each week will be posted in the Discussion forum. Comments on photos are always encouraged!

Guidelines

* All photos must be shot during the week of the active hunt. Please only post photos to the Group Pool that you shot and own the copyrights to.

* Add the tag "scavenger hunt" to your tag line so others can easily find the group that may be interested in joining.

* Comments are encouraged but if you want critiques then please mention that in your description.
