Tizzies Can Make You Barf

Having two toddlers in the house is fun! The days are filled with screaming, crying, and laughter, the sounds of toys bouncing and crashing off the floor - all packaged with a nice musical soundtrack provided by Nick, Jr. on TV.

Last week my son wanted to have his cherry Super Tootsie Roll Pop he got at the grocery for desert but he didn't eat his dinner. His sister ate her dinner so she got one, which she proceeded to lick on right in front of him while telling him he didn't eat his dinner (she's only two years old but is in full conversation mode). We told him the same thing and it wasn't what he wanted to hear so he pitched a wall-eyed fit, screaming and crying about wanting his cherry Super Tootsie Roll Pop! Trying to convince a four year-old to calm down and stop fussing about this was near impossible. We told him that throwing a tantrum was just going to get him worked up into a tizzy and that he still wasn't going to get it unless he ate his dinner.

He got himself so worked up that he started to vomit. I thought for certain that hyperventilation would come first but the gulps of air gagged him and out came what little food he had in him at the time. My son hates to throw up. He hates it when his sister gags and throws up and usually runs into the other room. He will need to work on that reaction before he goes to Paramedic School or into training to become a Power Ranger (the two things he wants to be when he grows up).

After gagging on air due to the tizzy he worked himself into, he calmed down and sat at the dinner table with us wearing a sad face while watching his sister lick on her grape Super Tootsie Roll Pop. The next day she started screaming and crying about something. I don't remember why, maybe I put the wrong lid on her sippy cup. Rolleyes  My son comes in the room and says, "If you don't stop fussing you will work yourself up into a twisty and throw up."

I had to laugh. If I knew all it would take to get him to stop pitching a fit was to tell him he would vomit if he worked himself up into a twisty I would have done that about two years ago.

A few months ago our neighbor's daughter learned how to ride her bicycle without training wheels. Since then my son has been talking about taking his off but it's mostly been just that - talk. He decided that today was the day to give it a shot.

Weekend Bloghoppers!

It has been a while since I have written anything. Sometimes, like many others, I get into a writing/blogging funk and have nothing good to say. Sure, I could give you the play-by-play of my daily life with two toddlers pulling me in all directions but how much fun is that to read again and again?

I was hoping for life to slow down a bit after the holidays but with all that is going on here, life is getting busier by the day. Tonight, however, I am going to do a little Weekend Bloghopping with some of my fellow bloggers! BusyDad started The Weekend Bloghoppers a few weeks ago due to many of us being parents and at home on the weekends with our families instead of out bar hopping like we did during those wild and crazy years known as "before kids."

While doing some much needed blog hopping I'll be taking a break to watch the new episodes of Friday Night Lights (I have 2 weeks of catching up to do on the DVR). It's filmed here in Austin and the surrounding areas and it's about high school football in Texas, which is some of the best football there is! I should know since I grew up in Texas. I didn't play football, though, because I would have been snapped like a twig in the first game of the season. I did get to do a lot of screaming and yelling on the sidelines as part of the squad. Not the cheer leading squad but the guys who led the chants and did base stunts with the cheerleaders...OK, maybe some of you would call that cheer leading but we didn't go to competition with the girls and wore boots and jeans to the games! We were cool! I swear!

I can't believe I just let that cat out of the bag. Sealed

Back to blog hopping! See you all around!

Cowboys Lost

Ouch! Great football games today and unfortunately (for me and many others) the Cowboys lost to the Giants. Now by default, I have to root for the Packers as they are the team with the best shot of beating the Patriots.  I really wanted to see Peyton Manning and the Colts take down Tom & the Brady Bunch, but I'll settle for Brett Favre and a bunch of cheese heads at this point.

Favre con Queso!

Today the kids and I went to check out the new park just south of Lady Bird Lake near downtown Austin. The skies were clear and the view of downtown is outstanding. I took a ton of photos of the kids running around playing but this one was one of my favorites.
